My name is Matthew Rainey and I am the owner and principal investigator of Open Source Solutions NW, a licensed, bonded, and insured Washington State Private Investigations Agency. As a career military intelligence officer and fraud investigator, I am passionate about finding creative solutions that provide clients with the best information available at the right time. While I am a full-service, unarmed agency, my professional experience is in the Workers’ Compensation arena. My goal is to provide Washington State Fund (L&I) employers as well as Self-Insured employers the best investigative services possible at a competitive rate.

After retiring from the United States Army, I spent eight years working for Washington Department of Labor and Industries in various capacities investigating workers’ compensation fraud. I personally completed hundreds of cases including 36 fraud cases resulting in civil overpayments in excess of $1.5 million dollars, with eight cases ending in criminal prosecution. I am passionate about case outcomes that help the businesses of the State of Washington while ensuring that legitimate claimants obtain the benefits they need to get back working quickly. I have been a field supervisor of a team of field investigators throughout Southwest Washington. I have also served as the supervisor of the Fraud Adjudication, Detection and Education team in the Investigations Program in the Tumwater Headquarters. I understand the L&I Investigations program better than most.
